PRIVACY POLICY
Who we are
We’re MIRUS Fitness, based in Halifax, West Yorkshire. We provide coaching in person and online, and a free fitness app. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we’re the “data controller” for information collected on this website, in our forms, and through the app.
If you have a question about this policy or your data, email hello@mirusfitness.co.uk.
What we collect
When you contact us or book a consultation, we collect the basics you share: your name, email, phone or WhatsApp, your preferred and backup time slots, and any notes you choose to include. If you become a coaching client, we’ll also keep the information necessary to coach you well — things like training history, goals, plan adjustments, and form-check videos you send us. In the app, we receive device and usage events so features work reliably and problems can be fixed.
You control what you tell us. If you include health details (for example injuries), we only use them to provide the service you’ve asked for.
How we use it
We use your information to deliver what you requested: schedule consultations, run sessions, keep programs up to date, and make the app function. We also use it to communicate with you — confirming bookings, answering questions, or sending important updates. On the website and in the app we review aggregate usage to improve performance and security, fix bugs, and understand what’s working.
If you opt in to marketing cookies, we’ll also measure advertising — for example whether a visit came from an ad — and use that to improve campaigns. You can change these choices at any time (see Cookies below).
Legal bases
We process personal data only when we have a lawful reason to do so. Most of the time that’s because it’s needed to perform a contract with you (coaching and consultations), because it’s in our legitimate interests to run and improve a secure service (for example basic analytics and fraud prevention), or because you’ve given consent (for marketing/ads cookies or any sensitive information you choose to share). Where the law requires us to keep records, we do that too.
Cookies & analytics
Our site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep forms, security and core features working. With your consent, we also use analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site is used, and advertising cookies to make our ads more effective and measure results. You can review or change your cookie settings any time via the Cookie icon bottom left. The site will still work if you switch off analytics and ads.
Sharing
We don’t sell your data. We share information only with trusted providers who help us run the business, such as hosting and infrastructure, email delivery, form handling, analytics and advertising partners (if you’ve consented). These companies act on our instructions and must protect your data. If the law requires it, we may share information with authorities.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. When that happens, we rely on adequacy decisions or approved safeguards like Standard Contractual Clauses to keep your information protected.
How long we keep things
We keep personal data only for as long as it’s needed. Enquiries and booking information are usually kept for up to 24 months of inactivity. Coaching and app data are retained while you’re an active client or user and then archived or anonymised within a reasonable period. Cookie identifiers are kept according to the settings you chose or until you clear them.
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it in some cases, restrict or object to certain uses, or receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, email mirusfit@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring — to safeguard personal data. No system is perfect, but if we ever identify a risk to your information, we’ll act quickly and keep you informed where required.
Children
Our services are aimed at adults. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and adjust the “Last updated” date. Where appropriate, we’ll let you know by email.
